    Hi guys.

I have the following light on my system ...

250W MH (Reflector, Ballast and 20000K BLV Globe).

Question, i dont mind paying for the power it use, but will switching to T5's consume less power ?

Well that would depend on a number of things how many T5's are you thinking of using your photo period and if you want more than one stage of light and another point of interest will be how long the chiller will run with the halide and or T5's

I reckon it would. My 2 X 250W halides with ballasts consume around 1000W.

Dont forget the pump feeding the chiller and the counter productivness on heating vs chilling if a centralised thermostat isnt installed..

You got a cube. So T5 54w units is out of the question. unless you go multiple 39W units. but that is still 900mm and I think that is still too long for your tank.

But even 8 globes of 39W is 319W in total. 6 tubes is 234W.

So no real gains. So what you got, is maybe better, and cheaper.
