Any suggestions on where to get an inverter for a good price. Builders has an Ellies 1200 watt for R7500. Is that a good price?

OK then you will definitely need to look at a pure sine wave...
the top one is modified sine wave so for TV and other electronic not ideal.
personally I don't like ellies inverter... really not the best quality an also there specs aren't very good.

Get a generator thats big enough for your house and your tank.

Hi Rockfire, had a 14 hour power outage in the south today and a few times in the last 3 months. My entire tank wattage (heaters, lights, pumps) is about 700w. I have a 1200w pure sine inverter with back up battery. I only run my return pump, 1 heater, 1 set of lights and 1 wave maker = 300w. Running a system of 1200w would last me 4hrs. Running 300w gives me about 10 hours. So around 8hrs of power outage I have a generator that's 1500w which I use for T.v & DSTV when the power goes out, which I hook the inverter upto and after about an hour or so the back up batteries on the inverter are charged which gives me another 10 hours. Hope this was helpful.
