what i did was i got a 1/4 inc pvc pipe and drilled a small hole to insert tubing with air stone. got myself a battery operated air pump and voila bobs your uncle. you've just created circulation and aeration at the same time. i will draw it up quicly and post so that you can have an idea of what i did

Here you go if you drill the hole just right you wont need silicone. Also before cementing the elbow bend insert the tubing first. Let us know how ypu find this instructable...

Most important IMO is flow to keep oxygen level high enough, so either battery airpump or return pump. Heat can become an issue on smaller tanks, but cooler water carries more oxygen, so as long as water temp doesn't drop below say 20C, it should be fine. We had an 8 hour cut the other night 20h00-4h00, and on my one 250 liter only the vortech was on backup and zero issues.

Flow is the most important. No flow no fish. I would have a small DC powerhead (like a RW4) on a backup battery to keep the water turning.

@ShLiMi333 nice DIY flow pipe. I saw guys using this with their underwater overflow.

You didn't steal the idea, you just used it without sand:lol:. Those underwater falls look real awesome but our flow in the tanks are to strong for something like this.
