Hi, this glass light fitting costs R17.00 and I think it would make the perfect small N/P reactor for a Nano. What do you think? Any ideas?

Could work if you have a pipe going down the centre to the bottom so that water could raise up through the pellets, but I've never used the pellets so not sure of the requirements of the reactor for them.

1st poblem is its glass but it can be made to work, just a little more prone to breakage ..

Would work very well , just need a downpipe as viper said as well as a type of diffiser plate at the bottom , thus your flow will run up the rounded sides and keep the pellets tumbling

Basically, it is just a fluidised filter. I have bought all the parts. Will put it together in a couple of days then post the pics if it works. Should cost less than R50-00 but definitely less than R100-00.

Seems okay. Those fittings are very loose. So will probably be best to keep this in the sump.

Sorry, had everything almost set up and the decided to leave it for now as my nitrates and phosphates both dropped to 0 and I have bio-pellets in a filter bag in a fast flow region of my filter. If it gets clogged up quickly, I will then use my DIY reactor. I can show you pictures of the parts and how I sealed the class fitting. It will work fine but I haven't tested it yet.
