    Hey guys,

A hole was made in the centre on the cut off bottom (collection cup) and used silicon to stick them together and prevent water (skimate) falling out the collection cup

Thanks man, I was surprised it actually collected skimate. Are you guys able to see the video?

    :roflmao: BubbleMaster I wish lol.

I forgot to mention, Later on a made a hold for over flow, which I'm going to add a pipe and a tap, will make it much easier to control. This was a test for my frag tank which will start up soon, will use this until I get funds for a skimmer,
    any sponsors?

Nice and simple but something seems to be missing or not visible with the pics. Where does the "clean" water escape? Do you adjust the level by pulling the top bottle up/down?

    Thanks bud.

Yes, thats what I was missing, I made a small on the bottom half bottle, a little higher from the pump level for over flow, Yes by moving the top bottle you can control the amount of bubbles at the top.

In these pic, the water that was skimmed just leaked out between the two bottles until the over flow hole was made, but its tricky if you dont have a tube and tap, because if you make the hole to big then the bubble wouldn't be able to reach the top,

If anybody is going to try this, The missing links are trying to secure the two bottles together to match your tank, then to add a over flow for better control.

A ball valve will work but the size of the hole in the bottom bottle will obviously depend on the size of the entire design as well as the pump used. When you have a working solution let us know:yeahdude:Guess there's a bit of trial and error that goes into the design of skimmers to get it performing optimally.

I did a similar one but didnt use the botom botel just directed the flow from the pump through a hole in the side of the cone part skimmate whent up skimed water exited through the botom I siliconed my colevtion cup to the lid of the bottel which I drilled a hole in so I could remove it easely to empty
