    Hi guys,
I was thinking wouldn't a hth pool floater cleaned out work to dose your tank with say kalk or something, if it was floating in your sump???

how you going to control the amount of kalk that comes out? remember that those pool floaters have solids chlorine tablets that just disolve.

Yeah for sure it would come out quick if you just shoved it in, was thinking maybe put the additive lets stick to kalk for this eg., and maybe a sponge or something on top of it below the "pee" hole? then it would come out over a long period, only problem is it might "cake" at the bottom?

brent, VERY interesting DIY idea (trust me we all get them...too much time on our hands, or so othe missus says:p)

Unfortunately I am with Deon on this, it is going to take a lot of trail and error to get the dosage right, also even if using the small spa type you will have this ugle blue & white thing in your tank.

But why not play around with the idea

Haa haa... yeah imagine people visiting and there is a frikin pool floater cruizing around the tank!!!
I'll keep it in the sump rather!!
    (I hope that's what you mean't???)
But think I might bugger around and see what I can do to filter it so it's not a big dose at once!

you right maybe the sump will have to much flow, possibly a bucket with an incoming/outgoing trickle type system.... aaah, you got me thinking!
if I get it right I'll post a pic!

Brent i dump a whole box of slaked lime from the chemist into my RO top up and that floats to the bottom. Kalk is them used up as needed and i shake the bottle once a week. as you said it might cake up and it does. i wouldnt worry about the flow as DSB flow is minimal.

Too many factors to consider. why not just use it with your top up?

I think if one could get it compacted it may work, but I think you would be in danger of either too little or too much getting into the tank, if you chasing numbers not a good idea.

Also, heat and cool would change the amount released - I know that for example in winter my pool thingie lasted 2 months, but in summer, with the heating on, it lasts 2 weeks.

its the not knowing how much that would bother me

    Will do!
Maybe dumping it in the RO resovoir and letting it drip into sump is easier and hassle free? any other suggestions?
