    Hi guys,

I need to fix the flow in my tank and was thinking of getting a polario. I'm not 100% sure how these things work but from what I can see, flow exits from both ends and blows towards the sides of the tank. But now what about in the middle, does the middle section of the tank, where the polario is placed, receive any flow?

My tank is an 8ft tank but very narrow, only 30cm's wide and I think about 40cm's high, will a polario provide sufficient flow to reach the ends of the tank?

    Thanks.

Hey Viper, I have a polario in the middle of my 2.7m and a few other normal powerheads. The unit is pretty good, sucks in one side for 15 secs while blowing out the other and visa versa! (these settings are adjustable!) the blow out area have a angle flow adjuster so it's spread is what will suit you! especially with that narrow tank you should get great flow! Saying this my drive unit just starting blinking like a frikkin disco yesterday and is on the fritz, but Supplier is going to change it for me!!!;)

I know other Polario units are available "soon"
If I got the numbers right it is
    3ML, 5ML, 10ML, 15ML and 22ML

We only had the 22ML available previously here in SA. Also not sure if all sizes will be available either.

10ML is actually quite a small unit, not that a big submarine in the back of the tank anymore. Still thinking and contemplating... hmmm maybe....

    10ML (10000Lph)
    22ML (22000Lph)

i dont think the flow is really going to be a problem but the lifespan/ quality of the unit has always been questionable.. moreso the contoller fan specifically.

excellent unit it can only improve with time..

Boss, im using the 22000lph Polario on my 1.2*800*600 which is SPS dominated. I'll be honest with you, it is not powerful enough, and the center does not receive any flow. That is the reason why I had to add on 3* 13000lph Tunze6105's to help cope. Infact im planning on adding one more 6105.

i took the fans out of my controller due to their noise, and have had no problems yet. one big plus is that they cant suc up any anemones or get clogged with bubble algae. mine have been running now about 1.5 years. we'll have to see what their life time is, not sure.

pic of the 2 pumps in my system, and i got no dead spots in my tank

Thanks for the help everyone.

Seeing as there are some new models coming out then perhaps two smaller pumps instead of one big one will be better and possibly alleviate the problem of having no flow in the centre of the tank, similar to what Ed is doing in his 3.2m tank.

Viper the strongest flow is in the middle of my tank, the 2 pumps meet there. if i had only sps, i would probably add one more, but my sps seems very happy atm.
