plz help!!!

    hi

    im starting my tank today and as im picking up the lr i found this on it, is it safe? is it a coral of some sort? or some type of algea?
    what should i do with it?

    Are you referring to the white bits? Bottom of the rock could be a sponge which isn't bad to have....

    It looks like an SPS skeleton, is it hard?

    more likely to be a sponge of sorts, is it growing on the bottom of the rock where little or no light would reach? doubt it's a colt

    its as hard as the rock but it looks alive :)

    are there polyps growing/extending from it?

    no, no polyps
    by the way the green on the left of it is that fine is like on the rock, you cant brush it of..
    the white thing was not recieving much light as well, if that helps

    it is a dead SPS coral skeleton. If the green stuff is hard then its fine. :)

    id leave it right there and let the coraline grow over it

    It is basically just a piece of dead rock. If you think it looks out of place, then break it off. I would just leave it as butcherman says. Eventually it will become covered with coralline anyway. :)

    I had a dead piece which is now covered with GSP, leave it...

    You often get LR with bits of dead coral on it. Dont fret :)

    I think it's a dead coral skeleton with algae growing on it
