    People
does anyone know where one gets a decent plug in timer that does not lose time everytime the power's out?
Or is there another clever solution to switching halides/T5's like clockwork?

Hi RaveMan - I have bought my digital 240V timers from the flea-market in Cape Town. BUT, I have seen these exact same digital timers at a lighting shop in Cape Town (Eagle Lighting). As well as in a LFS that used to be in the Cape Town centre.

So - you can go to any one of these places - I am quite sure that somewhere there must be a flea market, a lighting specialist shop and/or a builder's warehouse, AND a LFS?

Any one of these types of shops should stock these timers...

    Good luck mate!

Oh yes - some folks actually use specialized "computers" to control their lighting - similar to Ted's PLC ...

That cool 3-way timer Liaquat sells has an internal battery backup. I'd rather buy one of those rather than 3 "normal" digital timers (only uses 1 plug then). I think Alfie had a thread on it somewhere...

Do yourself a favour and check this out, SMS Controller: GSM Commander - The best SMS Controller in the world going to get my one next month, seems far more universal and has many more functions that a plc, mine will controll all pumps, 5 different lighting channels with different timings, auto top-up, and it also can send you sms's when things happen, and visa versa. only like R2400.

That's not a bad price. Do they sell them locally or are you importing one?

The IKS looks good but would hate to know what it costs, would probably need to rob a bank to pay for it.
