pls help me id this crab

    Difficult to tell from the photo, but it looks like a species of porcelain crab.
    Porcelain crabs are cool. they are filter feeders and won't harm you live stock.
    See if the long antennae originate behind the eye ( as opposed to inbetween the eyes)
    the 5th pair of legs are also usually reduced so only 3pairs of walking legs.

    Spot on steve3paris of walking legs and the antennas come up from behind the eyes thanks dude!

    if you unsure ,sump it solong as you dont want it disapearing into your rockwork once you found out it eats little fishies:blush:

    Now its a shrimp this guy is from our local shores i saw a couple of them at mossilbay aqaureium but the guy at desk told me when i asked him yha its a shrimp so i asked what kind and he said the shrimp kind! Pls help!

    Yep Palaemon are fine. Not sure if the cooler water species will take higher temps, but the Durban ones do well.

    Cyclograpsus. Coldwater species (like 95% of what you'll find in Mossel Bay).
