Hi, not to sure about the surgen- could be a grey surgen.

the clam should be on a rock, placed in a way that with its opening and closing, it doesnt fall off, i usualy put it in a v shaped shallow crevice.

P.S it should grow threads in about a week to 10 days and start anchoring its self to the rock.

When buying a ckam, turn it upside down and make sure you can see some fibers or debre on the "hinge" of the shell, its a good sighn that it has been taken off its rock and not ripped its foot mussle which reduces your chances of keeping him succesfully.

    Ditto

is the tang showing its normal colors? Or is it new in the tank (just asking as it is hiding away)

Then it might not be showing the right colors because it is a bit stressed?

    Just a guess..:whistling:

The tang could be an indian ocean spotted bristletooth..Ctenochaetus Truncatus/indian indian ocean strigosus!

yip it showing its normal color its been in my tank for awhile now. its a grayish color with a yellow tail and doesn't look much like a bristle tooth. when its fins are open it resembles a the Zebrasoma family but it hasnt got a scalp on its tail. there is three little dots there
