Please Id this Macro algae

    Got this guy growing on this LR for a while now but now its big enough for an ID. What is it? Im thinking a type of Red Gracilaria Algae... This is the best pic I can take as my camera doesnt zoom :( .. lol

    maybe Red Garcilaria or nemastoma macroalgae

    could it also be red Dictyota?

    Perhaps but you might have to wait for it to grow if you want to make an accurat ID

    I tend to disagree. I once had one in my tank- beautiful. And it became huge, but then I introduced Tangs :( :(

    I actually have something that looks like a "red bubble algae" .. Yeah I guess that I will have to wait for it to grow more. I will move this rock to the refuge when I get tangs. This rock gets a lot of light, its right on top in my DT. Hope its something nice that I can grow to feed tangs :)

    As far as I can remember, red algae normally likes intense light. So it might not do that well in the fuge compared to the tank.

    Possibly Dichotomaria marginata algae. Is common in shady areas in shallow water inside the reef. The blades are flat and calcified.
