please ID this fish

    I have always found these little guys interesting. I see them when I dive and would love to know what they are. Please excuse the bad pics

    that's a wrasse, grows quite big if I'm not mistaken, @RiaanP?

    Closest thing I can find to it is either a type of grouper or bass????

    some species of rockcod then - the one in my picture is a yellowbelly rockcod.

    +1 for juvenile yellowbelly. 60cm is the minimum legal size, by the way.

    I caught it as I always see it when I dive, and never new what it is. Thanks once again to Lord_Blackadder, we can always rely on him for an exact ID. Not forgetting SteveZi....thanks a million. I will release him ASAP!
