What are these, Brownish fingers, about 5cm high. Kind of translucent. Branching into 2 fingers. The cleaner shrimp is not fully grown, medium size, for comparison.

Hi Riaan - they are some sort of macro algae..... they are not supposed to be brown - but rather red. Unfortunately, I have some bad news - but, they do look (and sound) like they are busy dying.... they are supposed to be a bright deep/wine red coloration - not translucent brown.....

    Serious!
They always looked this colour. Actually in the beginning they were lighter. And short like the one in front. They are growing.
They are quite high in the tank
    And I do have T5 39w 10 000K *4 and 20 000K *2

I actually like them, and would not want them to be dying...

Well - Good luck with this, Riaan - do you dose iodine? I have read somewhere that you NEED to dose iodine for red macro algae to thrive,.......

    Closest I find are
    Scinaia complanata
    or
    Scinaia sp.
And I do agree they are a lot more darker and the other a stunning pink.

    Do you guys agree?
