Definately looks like whitespot's OTHER best friend :tt2: powder brown ... Price he paid also might determine what it is ... Lavender tang is much less than powder brown .... If the pet shop had the id right :p

Like my buddy @ziyaadb said ... Even if you look badly at a powder blue .... It gets whitespot .... Not to say it attracts whitespot .... They just stress very easily ... There is whitespot everywhere ... just that these tangs dont handle stress very nicely ... They allow whitespot to rear its ugly head much quicker than other fish ...

Yip,just don't catch him with a net rather try and catch him with a plastic tub, this prevents damage to his scales so it doesn't create places for white spot. Also don't stress him out to much, stress also plays apart in white spot.BTW this is just my opion others may differ.Anyway nice fish;)

Maybe they mistook it for a gold rim tang Acanthurus Nigricans, which looks a lot like powder brown above and sounds close to Acanthurus Nigrofuscus which is the lavender tang. Same as my regal tang, just look at them and they get white spot haha.

Acanthurus japonicus is correct, its a beautiful fish.

Tangs can be a bit white spot prone but Imo that is because they stress easily, keep him in a big enough tank with good water condition and right tank mates and you really shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Hi bud. IMO it would be great for you to introduce your Bud to MASA. It is all very nice to help him but he really needs to post these things himself. That way he will learn a lot more. Encourage him to join MASA and ask as many questions as possible.
