Please help me identify

Hi, I bought this peace of live rock and attached was this purple smudge looking stuff on it and a couple of days later it turned into this.

Could someone please help me identify this coral/polyp, as I am a Newbie to the hobby.

Also thought xenia. But he said it looked like 'smudge' on the rock. Which is kind of how Gsp and bsp look when closed.

Where did you get the liverock?
Almost looks like the person cut off the xenia right before you purchased it, hence it took a while to open/grow abck

i bought the live rock from second wave dynamics in
Boksburg,it was so interesting to see this flat purple smudge
turn in something this nice

I bought the same coral from aquaria sa they told it was waving hand coral anthelia?

Not xenia. Xenia has distinct stalks and then polyps out of the stalk. That is anthelia. It does not pulse and forms a mat not stalks. Beware, it can spread extremely quickly and will grow over other corals.
