Pls can someone ID this little guy. It looks like a brown wrasse of sorts. I battled to get pics of his as he would not stay still long enough for me to take a pic, so pics may be a bit blurry.
    Thanks for your help

Hi Raccoon, obviously you didnt buy it, then you would know the species. Did you get it from some one or a local caught one.

What the name of the LFS? It's DEFINITELY a locally caught Halichoeres zulu - which is ONLY found in SA.

Please PM me the name of the shop and I'll pass it onto the relevant authorities. I've shut down LFS's selling locally caught fish before and as this species is ONLY found in South African waters, there is no legal way to sell this fish.

Before everyone jumps the gun accusing LFS's for selling local fish, I caught it for @Raccoon at Rocky bay. She did mention is was locally caught I believe.

With regards to LFS's knowing what they sell I really do not think that is true. I once purchased 'Brown Star Polyp' and is was actually Galaxy Coral. Most pet shops employ people that know little or nothing about what they sell. Just my 2c.

Please read the collecting permit that you signed. It CLEARLY states that fish may not be sold, bartered, donated or traded. i.e. you may catch fish for yourself only, not for anyone else.

Indeed it does @Xenobalistes and I do have the ability to read. Thanks for pointing that out. @Racoon and I live in the same house and share one of the tanks, but no one bothered to ask. All she asked was what fish is that and it was answered along with unnecessary posts about reporting pet shops. I am not sure if you were trolling or trying to incite something or just to get tempers flared. Either which way you've done a sterling job.

I'm sorry but where does the original poster say they got it from an LFS? Raccoon asked for an ID for a fish, not a lambasting. It's about time you got off your high horse and started acting like an adult instead of a schoolyard child pretending to be a policeman with a plastic gun on his hip. You've been banned once before, this will be your second time, goodbye and please don't sign up again under another name Richard Matlock.
