    Hi,

Just started myself and also added playsand. Took me 2 to 3 hours to clean 40kg of sand. Make sure your Deep Sand Bed is around 15cm deep.

    Good luck cleaning :)

Make sure you get playsand that is untreated with chemicals!!! I think reggies sells it.

How big is your DSB? I'd personally go for the sugar fine aragonite.

you are in Cape town, why not use the real thing? just go to a deserted beach.

I agree with RaanP, if you can get to a beach rather use thatt(the cheapest option) you will have to wash any sand you use to be on the safe side

Your DSB is small, small job.

Collect from below low water mark. Clean unpolluted beach.

Water is cold there, so it the bacteria in the sand most likely will not last in your tank with higher temps. So I doubt if below the low water mark would make a difference. I would still wash it tho, and maybe keep it a day in tapwater to really kill all the cold water stuff. Rinse it again with tap water and last good rinse with RO.

In your case or Cape town case I think collecting dry clean sand up high would not be a issue either.
