    Hey peeps,

Was doing a bit of cleaning last night as I was away for the weekend and the kids mistook the tank for a drawing board & play pen for sand cookies!

Anyway,I have a pistol shrimp in my tank which came along with some rock I purchased probably 3 years ago.Whilst cleaning the glass I knock some corals around and for the love of me,I could not get them back how they were? So I figure what the heck,re-do it.

Off I go,undo all middle section of rocks, all the while the clicking is getting louder and louder. At one stage I thought the glass is going to crack.

Then all of a sudden the rocks collapse on the right hand side! By then my nerves were done. So the long haul of removing all corals and stacking rocks again started.

Then I get to shrimp area, man I could almost shit myself when I moved the rock he was under, the thing is huge! He was kinda dark but not black dragging his shot gun along as he ran for cover.

Now I want to know, could it have been a crab seeing that it was 6-7cm long/wide? Do crabs have that snapping sound too?

So I removed all the rock & corals, left it overnight in the spare tank and still I did not find it? All I got was crabs! Ugly ass black, red, purple and white ones.

Then just to drive me nuts the shrimp is still there! Heard him while putting everything back.

Scaping for the past 3 days now, piece by piece:lol:

Nothing wrong with pistol shrimps. I've got at least 10 and they don't bother anything. The clicking can be worrying sometimes though!

I gave up on finding it. I was just really curious to see it in the flesh. Found some remains around his area, looks like crabs or some sort? I do however think he took out one of my Engineer Gobies as I cant find it.

    Now back to scaping:whistling:

I have one in my current tank.
Think it came from my frag tank in the garage when I moved all the stock and rocks over.
And must have come along with one of the rocks or frag I got from somewhere.
Didn't buy it, haven't seen it but can hear it specially at night.
Believe they make a "click" sound and a mantis shrimp will make "click" "click" "click" or so I have been told.

    As for the crabs.
Dude be careful of those guys.
Some of them come along on rocks the size of pin heads and when they are bigger will eat half your tank.
Best to ask the guys for an ID on them before they go back in the tank or take a long walk in the garden.... :whistling:

Ask Lanzo to put you on his list.
Believe they get them in quite often with shipments of live rock.

Careful as they can shatter or crack glass up to 1/2" thick.
