    Hi,
I have a 45deg bend underneath my tank base to take the overflow pipe (durso) to the skimmer compartment, this setup is very noisy at this bend due to the water hitting the 45 after free-falling 600mm, sounds like an indoot waterfall.
Any suggestions of how to get this a bit more silent.
I am using normal white 50mm pvc pipe.
Was thinking of using a flexible swimming-pool creapy pipe - the ones with the ribs, to get a more gentle bend and with the ribs acting as damping but what about algea growth ?

I doubt you would get much algae growing in the pipe without a light source. You may get a little mulm like build up but I doubt it would affect flow in a 50mm pipe too much.

You could try put a ball valve after the bend and close it up a bit.
