wanting to know how its works

does the mesh wheel 'chop' the air that is sucks into the pump ? so the venturi needs to be on the inlet side of the pump ? unlike a conventional pump that has the venturi after the pump ?

correct, the mesh or pin wheel chopps the air that has been sucked through the venturi (placed on the inlet to the pump) and more finley choppes the bubbles for better transfer of proteins to occur.

A skimmer 200-250mm in diameter is HUGE.... even though the height is only 400mm...
I would rather say a minimum of a 2000 litre per hour pump. IF you are DIY'ing, and you can modify the skimmer body, then 2 x 2000 litre per hour recirculating pumps would be the ABSOLUTE best!
    You will NOT be sorry!

BTW: ReefOctopus OTP pumps are awesome! You can get OTP2000's (2000 litre per hour) needlewheel, or pin-wheel pumps.....

200 Gallon tank, Blackrat? WOW! That's quite some size!

The ReefOctopus OTP2000's go for between R500 and R650, as far as I know.

That sizing you are referring to - is about the diameter of my Bubble Magus BM-260 skimmer. My skimmer is just much taller than 400mm. But, it is +-230mm is diameter.... (+-720mm tall)...
My skimmer is "rated" for 1500 litres. I have a 195 gallon tank (+-870 litres)...

It all depends what you want to keep. The bigger the skimmer, the lower your water nutrients would be. The bigger the variety of fish, anemone's and corals, you would be able to keep.

Recirculating pumps supplies FAR more air to the skimmer, and also re-uses the water and "attaches" the very fine bubbles to the water molecules. Meaning - that the water is nearly completely "sterilized" of POC's and DOC's....
