    Hi guys

I bought 4 pink Anthias for my tank 3 weeks and 3 days ago. All 4 were bought healthy and eating well from my LFS. The fish were put in a quarantine tank for 10 days and ate well after the first day. Upon transferring to my DT the fish were initially very shy and kept very low key for a few days. 3 of the four then made regular appearances, often schooling with the 3 blue green Chromis I have. One however remained shy and I saw him lurking behind rocks and very occasionally venturing out. Today the shy guy has come out but he has what appears to be a wound of which I am not sure is aggression from another fish related, or a parasite/disease. I attach some photos, and would appreciate advice on what it could be and treatment procedures please. Curiously the fish seems very relaxed and is schooling and eating.

    Thanks in advance.

the fact that its eating is positive, the big thing is to keep it frequently fed with vitimin enriched foods and water parameters in as stable and pristine condition in terms of stability as possible,

ive seen fish like this recover fully if correct husbandry and diet are applied.

Leslie could you hazard an opinion on whether this is an injury or sickness please?

im guessing an injury.. the trick is to keep it healthy enough to ward off infection.

Thanks Leslie much appreciated. Any suggestions on treating the wound and would there be merit in removing from DT and putting back into quarantine?

Firstly those are Evansi Anthias. If you have two males they could be fighting or it could be more serious like the bacterial infection Vibriosis. If it's still eating, you should be fine.

@carlosdeandrade it appears that the school are peaceful I am seeing no aggression amongst the Evansi Anthias ( thanks for ID  ). I do however have a dominant blue green Chromis and my money would be on him IF this is an aggression related injury. If it is Vibriosis what can I do to identify this and what treatment, if any, can be administered? Many thanks for both your and Leslie's replies.

Unfortunately treatment is difficult. Being a bacteria you would need a good spectrum antibiotic. Vibriosis is quite common in trout farms. The best is to quarantine fish. Keep it well fed add vitamins to food and see what happens. I doubt your chromic would be aggressive. It could've been a crab, they try grab fish at night. Keep an eye out in terms of your other fish.

Sadly lost the fish today. Still not sure what the problem was. The remaining 3 are fine but I'm keeping a close eye....
