I didnt know that leathers had tentacles?!

This pin cushion of mine has these streamers coming out and as soon as the fish come close they seem to retract.

    Comments?

    Smartypants!

Nope that pin cushion is all on its own. I thought it was shedding but the streamers seem to react to fish by contracting and then going out again

Yip awesome but quite common to see this. You can use some phyto or zooplankton to target feed when thos feeding tentacles are out

    Very nice PIC BTW

I have 2 of those pincusions. They retract when ever myself or any of the LS touches them, and a short while later they extend their tentacles again.
    So nothing to worry about.;)

My leather started to shed right after I got him from the LFS, so waiting for him to properly open up. Most of the "skin" layer is off, how long do they usually take to go through the shed process?

    I am referring to this:

It comes out of the pincushion, the zoas are just in the background

Ok i dont think im making myself clear lol

The pincushion is not shedding, i know what that looks like. It is fully open in the pic as you can see from the polyp extension. Now ontop of that we see the tentacles coming out similar to feeding tentacles on other corals. When the pincushion closed shop for the night after lights out, bye bye go the tentacles also...

Freaky. Where is it coming from on the coral if you look under the cap?
