Hey all, so I have had this pincushion for about two months now. Have moved it to a better spot in the tank and this morning it look like this. Is it dying? What can I do to help it. I have not tested param yet as I have been working late the past couple of weeks. I have lost two heads on a torch recently so not sure if that is the cause.

    Any advice would be great.

don't take this as gospel, but.....
i lost a few rics, heads on a bubble tip, n my pincushions retracted like u'res... the only explanation was the lack of nutrients in the water... started feeding a bit more, n hey presto.. all is well.
but i'm sure if u're patient the clever guys will post soon to give u proper advice, although the first prize advice will be to check u're parameters...

I don't think its a nutrient problem, I have been struggling a bit with gha, and been dosing read sea nopox, I also feed twice a week with reef snow, and feed the fish twice a day. But I will test water taer today.

    Hi Chris

When did you move it? These guys are hardy but they very fussy when touched or moved...
How is the flow in that spot? they like moderate flow.

Is the top layer coming off? It could be shedding...

I don't think you need to worry, Have a look when you back home, If it's still the same then it's definitely something else.

Hi, pincushion sees to be getting some colour back, but the middle of it has gone brown and yellow, it still, like in the first pic, but has made a bit of a whole in it . Opens up, so hoping it will be coming right, I am upgrading my filter tonight and going to be doing some water changes over the next couple of monthsto sort out my water,so just holding thumbs. Will post a pic of it later today, to see what you guys think

Personally, my pin cushion hates being moved takes about 2 weeks before it opens again after being moved

So here is an update of the pincushion, as you will see its getting a hole in the middle of it. It does open fully as this pic was taken as the lights have just come on [IMG]

Hmmm, That doesn't look good, haven't seen that before.
Lets wait for the experts, but having dying coral in a tank with other good coral might spread and cause harm to your other coral,(bring down water quality) if you have a QT tank, I would suggest putting it in there for now until somebody can offer advise.

Hi dude, Its rotting away! Best thing you can do is take it out the tank and give it a sniff! If it stinks then it is definitely rotting. What I have done in the past is cut away any of the rotten flesh to give it a chance. Otherwise I recon its dying? Your tank looks like the parameters are way out as there is a lot of red slime algae?

also if you wanna save it you should clean the die off constantly. basically just scrape it off and make sure its clean
