It has been nearly two and a half years since we last shared Pieter-Six-Meter‘s 2000 gallon reef and after viewing this video, the difference *is remarkable as suspected. The corals have grown in so much the system looks like another reef altogether. As some of you might recall the reef tank, just over 19.5 feet long, received a complete make over back in 2010 when the “wall of rock” aquascape was replaced with a much more open rockscape. Any*openness*seen in the previous video has now been replaced by massive corals however.

It is easy to underestimate the size of the mature coral colonies, especially with all the large mature fish but many of them are easily larger than dinner plates. That is remarkable considering the constant nipping of the corallivorous pair of blacktail butterflyfish (Chaetodon austriacus) and orange spotted filefish (Oxymonacanthus longirostris), not to*mention*all the large angelfish inhibiting the reef. Certainly a fantastic system that is now more drool worthy than ever. As always, thanks Tanne Hoff for the awesome video!
