    Shaun,

lets take a step back here .... IMHO your sump is "old School"...... just so that i understand, your ouveflow goes into the skimmer compartment then overflow to the bio balls then underflow into the rubble then return chamber ........ is that correct?

Do you have any algae problems ??

    How old is the system?

How often do you replace that filter floss ??

lets get the answer to those questions and move from there

How thick is the DSB in your sump. So if I understand this correct you have a DSB in your display tank to. Can you post a pics of your tank.

Shaun to cut a long thing short your space is limited you need a sump with 3 chambers. Please reefers you can corect me if I'm rong. Chamber 1 is your overflow from your tank with your skimmer and heaters ext in, chamber 2 must be as big as you can get it for your DSB, and last one must be your return. You must just remember that you must do the change over a long period. Please post a pics of your tank?

Great advise from Neil there buddy - Sorry where's my manners :welcome7:Neil is putting you on the right path there shaun70922 - You are fortunate that you live in a place where there are plenty reefers nearby to help you get organised - the sump is "old school design" and the route you must take is what Neil suggested but - slowly! Remember NEVER make drastic changes to system too quckly - give your system and livestock time to adjust!

Shaun that looks much better but as I said on the phone just put all the other filter media (Ceramic rings etc) back in and we will remove them over a period of a month or so...Remember we must do all the changes slowly as only bad things happen fast...

Did the wife give you some of her stockings to put the ceramics and so on in. Make about three to four bags and put them back in the sump. This is just so the system does not crash as you are removing alot of the bacteria. Then once a week we can remove one of the little bags starting next week
