Hi guyz. Im off to Sodwana in 2 weeks time. I fish mainly for bass around here. So i normally take my bass rod and mess around with blacktail, stonebream, small snappers etc. Anyway this time i dont plan on doing too much fishing at sordies BUT i would love to catch some tigers even if they be tiny, so does anyone know how i could get easy access to the river without having to hire a guide?

The river section above the trainbridge is all privately owned property - you need to know the owner or make use of one of the outfitters. The river section below the trainbridge is part of the Jozini dam but you will need a boat to fish this section. Your best bet if you dont want to hire a guide is to fish at the KZN parksboard camping grounds (Phongolo). Seen a few tigers caught at the jetty on spinners and fly.

The parksboard is part of the dam right. I think i've been there. Not much structure, i remember bare banks. Does the shayamoya dock there?

Yes it is part of the dam. Shayamoya docks their boats at the jetty. There is not much structure but a deep dropoff at the jetty.

Oh ok. I remember someone fishing there, he was fishing carp style with a stand. The water was really discoloured. I have family in pongola, they say its been raining alot lately.
