    Hi All,

I have a year old RSM 250. My Ph is a little lower that I would like. It is 7.9 in the morning and 8.1 by the end of the day. I have raised it to 8.4 (end of the day) with a slightly alkaline top up water but as soon as I stop doing this the levels drop back down.

It appears very stable at these levels. Should I be concerned?

I must point out I am currently battling high NO3 levels of 20 ppm.

pH of 8.1 isnt a problem.
What are your other parameters, KH, calcium and magnesium?

    Those parameters are fine.
Just get the nitrate down a little.

Maybe have a light on your sump as a reverse light cycle that should keep your PH stable.

as long as your PH swing between the same to margins then its OK. the range is not that much.

Mine did the same, and its the only reason I use my kalkstirrer. But the slake lime drops my ORP, so not doing that anymore. Now with higher ORP my PH seems to swing less as well.

What brand of salt are you using?

    Using RSM salt.

Can't have a light in my sump since the RSM tanks don't have a sump, everything is housed behind the tank.

Test the PH of your freshly mixed salt water. Just for interest sake.

Your water parameters seem fine, very similar to my rsm250. My Ph is currently 8.
