    Hi All

I did a water test this morning.
All levels good except that PH is down too much according to the test kit.
Not quite sure what supplements I should be using to keep all levels correct in my TL550.
I have quite a bit of coral in it.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks:thumbup:

What was your ph value of your test result also what is your ALK sitting at?

A Tanks ph will always be lower in the morning. due to the build up of CO2 over night and no lights on to facilitate photosynthesis.

if all the parameters are OK and only pH is low i would say test again in the afternoon and you should see your pH up. i would be worried if Alk was low as well as that would indicate problems

yes PH will drop after lights out as organisms that use light to photosynthesize will stop CO2 consumption and O2 production and then reverse and use O2 and release CO2, creating carboxylic acid which in turn starts to reduce PH.

a common work around is to have macro algae refugium on a reverse light cycle to combat this but this is where nano's fall short often having no sump etc.

so being a TL-550 owner i used to do the following. my RO topup was about 2L a day, so i got a drip kit from the hospital ER, was about R50 or so and then used a 2L coke bottle inverted filled with RO and kalkwasser and let that drip over night, i will take a pic this eve for you. i was a drop every 2-3 seconds and worked wonders. its portable so in the morning you can take it down or leave and top up with plain RO for evaporation, you will need to work out your consumption
now we solved 4 issues doing this:
    1. PO4 removal by binding it to kalk
    2. Stability in salinity
    3. increased PH
    4. addition of calcium etc

    keep us posted
