ph is very low

    ph in my 200 l tank was this morning 7.4

    what should i do to raise it

    Amin, are you using a well calibrated PH pen, or monitor to test PH, or are you using a test kit? Please post your Alk level aswell.

    iam using a degital pen it gives 7.4

    alk level you mean this 1.023

    No, I think you just gave me your salinity reading there. Alkalinity, will be in DKH or meq.

    does ph and alkalinaty effect the colour of the animone

    IMO, Alk is one of the most important water parameters to be checked in a reef tank. What you got to do is, visit you LFS and get yourself an Alkalinity test kit. The directions will be there on how to use. NSW levels of Alk : 6.5- 8.5 DKH.

    To be honest, my knowledge on Nennies are pathetic, but I if your water parameters are not in order, your livestock will suffer.

    What did you dose Amin?
    You probably checked at lights out and the Ph was low, now with lights on, it increased the PH, but still, that is way too much of a swing...

    you are right i measuered in the morning just after i turned the lights on
    after i came back home i cleaned the pen and mesured again i found it 8.4

    but it is still a big difference

    It is very important to double or even tripple check pH before making any changes as the pH could've been right and then you throw it out completely ;)
