Could someone tell me how to tell the difference between the Peppermint shrimp([FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]Lysmata rathbunae) and the TRUE Peppermint shrimp(Lysmata wurdemanni).I have tried to google pics, but it is very difficult to tell the difference. Is there a way of being sure that you are definitely buying a true peppermint shrimp? This is the best 2 photos I could get of each type.It seems the decoy only has horizontal lines whereas the true peppermint seems to have a vertical line in its middle section(like a belt).Am I right?:

It is only the wurdemanni that eats aips, google camel shrimp, they are most likely sold as peps, look at the tail, that is the give away - take note of the lines on the tail between the two species, the true pep's tail follows on from the body colours and the camel shrimp (apart from a humpy back - hence "camel") has a different color tail to it's body.

dude our LFS was selling a shrimp that was green and nothing like a peppermint shrimp for ages untill i educated them about it.. the shrimp they were selling are actually abundant in durban and have like tuffts of algae growing on them.. so not a peppermint.. my opinion is that the top one in the pics is the peppermint.. difficult to say though as there are so many simular species..
