Just want to share with you guys that my pajama cardinals are breeding. Spotted the one with a swollen jaw, with the help of google I found out that the male carries the eggs and fry in his mouth. Couldn't get any good pics as yet but here is one.

As I understand they should hatch after 8 days. The male still looks after them after hatching. I read up that the fry would be large enough to eat artema (baby brine shrimp). Will handel that when it happens. Will try to get better pics later.

@Toolboysa has successfully bred Bangai cardinals. I am currently taking care of them. He will gladly share his thoughts and knowledge. They are cutest things ever. He sent me this pdf document. Very nice reading.

@Toolboysa, thanks for asking but unfortunately I noticed my male had returned to his normal state and no fry. So I presume he ate the eggs, first time dad jitters I suppose. Was really looking forward to seeing the fry, maybe better luck next time!:(

Feel your pain mate. Happened a few times before this successful batch and he has eaten 2 batches of eggs since. So far seems to be a real hit and miss scenario with them. But keep watching females can produce eggs as soon as every 2 weeks

Ok take 2 :p. Male has been carrying eggs for 2 days now, again. Wait and see if anything will happen this time. Here is some pics of the male with the swollen jaw and the 2 female's with him, you can see the difference.

Not sure! When I looked at "dad" at 6 his jaw seemed to return to normal but when I checked at 7 it was swollen again. Can't see any fry, will check later with the lights out if I can see anything. Oddly, when I was feeding he was hiding in the bottom corner of the tank behind some rocks.
