    Hi all,

Look what I found looking at my tank - my Pajama Cardinal had a bit of a "dikbek", so I inpected ... There are 3 in the tank. 2 are smaller than the third. Here's a pic of one of the smaller ones. Notice the underside of the mouth.

Now, compare that to the mouth of the larger one - a definite bulge here:

And finally, after some effort I could snap this one:

Wouldn't you know - They're breeding! Don't know which one of the smaller ones are the female, but now I know the larger one carrying the eggs is the male.

Interesting. Post as much informations here as possible.
Water temperature and time until the release.
I am almost sure, he will release the fry within a week.
The fry should be the size of damsel fry. Only the banggais produce finished fish, without larval stage.

Yes, unfortunately I do not have a steady supply of greenwater or rotifers going yet ...

I've been trying for months to get. I actually got a "been in the fridge a week or so" culture that died down after a few days, and another good culture that died off completely within about 3 hours of me receiving it, for some reason. DV8 said he'll send me some through when he splits the his cultures again ...

DV8 and my son Rogan have the same cultures. They back each other up. It is best for you to do the same with somebody on your side, maybe try with Hypn?

Tried to catch the male yesterday evening to try and give the fry a chance in some way (I have a few rotifers), but without success. So, I switched off the circulation and got out of bed at around 23h50 and 03h00 to see whether they were released. They were released, but I could see any larvae ... Maybe next time ...

The fry was there, but you could not see it. I tried it many times as highly recommended on the web to catch the fry with the use of a torch and then scooping them out.
I could not see the damsel larvae. After I used a larvae snagger and caught the first batch, I understood why I could not see them.
If you don't know what to look for, you are not
able to see it, even if it is there.
The larvae is transparent and only if the light hits them from the side, the light will reflect and you can see them.

I have found Clownfish fry before in this way, but couldn't spot any fry this time around. Anyway, how does the "larvae snagger" work? Are they lured into some container by light?

That is exactly my point. I have found clownfish larvae before too.
Clownfish larvae are huge compare to other larvae.
Have a look in the breeding forum. I wrote an article how to catch fish larvae.
The only problem with your fish is, the snagger won't work as the eggs are not on a substrate. The only way to catchbthe larvae in your case is to isolate the male.
I am not so sure if the fry would feed on rotifer. Rotifer might be to big for them.
