what kinda paint you using? what I did when I painted. opened all windows. covered tank with duvet cover, switched off skimmer, added a normal airpump for oxygen taken away by switching off skimmer, put a fan on next to my tank so that the air was blown over my tak and not just hanging there. I didnt lose anything. oh,I also ran carbon in case. seems like overkill but I was sh*t scared of losing anything.

switch skimmer off while painting, fumes from various paints have anti bacterial and anti fungal properties, esp plaster primer, but that is only used on new walls. what paint do you plan on using?

Charl advice is good, run carbon while painting, keep tank covered and make sure you got lots of air circulation.

Cover the tank with a sheet when they're painting near the tank. Switch skimmer off and open windows as mentioned and add some fresh carbon. Other than that dont stress

waterbased (PVA) ? enamel? good advice given.. if you do use an airpump to aerate get some extra long silicone airline tubing and place the pump outside.. this will ensure you dont pull the fumes in..

generally pva is fine.. its the enamels (solvent "thinners/turps" based paints) that are dangerous..

because it would pull the fumes of the surrounding room into the skimmer mixing it with the water and if there is a toxin present poision the fish/coral.
