    Need some advise regarding ozone,

How good is it for your tank, what can go wrong, what do I need with it and any other comments regarding Ozone

If used very carefully it can help combat things like cyano etc. But use it incorrectly and you can wipe out your tank. As far as I know you will need a redox controller to control the ozone.

I dont know many people running Ozone even in bigger marine industries across the world the use of Ozone is relatively small
I think the risks are too much IMO

Ozone risks are too much, rather spend extra money on a skimmer

no risk to ozone use if controlled by redox controller i have been using it for 15 years plus at least, use it in a ozone reactor or resistant skimmer and pass effluent over carbon and you sorted

    Hey,
Im still new to ozone but i recently bought one about a month ago and impressed with what my skimmer is pulling out and how hard its working..
I got the Hailea Ozonator and connected the outlet of the ozone reactor to the inlet of my skimmer and so far so good! I am using a Reef Octopus TS2 Skimmer.

Oh yes forgot to mention i do pass the effluent over carbon.

    same setup
But my ozone runs on a timer. 45 minutes in the morning after I left for work and 45 minutes in the afternoon, before I get back from work.

I set the blue nob to 25 (I assume that runs every 25 minutes) as this unit had a built in timer..

@RiaanP, timer sounds like a good idea. Only corcern is running it through carbon. Suggestions on how to place the carbon at/on the outlet of my TS2 skimmer?

That is why mine run while I'm not there

Ozone is an extremely corrosive agent, very unstable. And it will breakdown extremely fast with whatever is available. It will not hang around for a long time.

@RiaanP Sounds more like a time bomb waiting to make a mess, so for the 90min you run it in a day, does it really make a differance?

ozone is a very useful tool but if used incorrectly then it is better to stay away from it, if you going to use ozone use it with a controller that measures redox and you are not likely to have any problems especially if in a reactor or skimmer and effluent runs over carbon.

Ill post a pic i run ozone in both a reactor and in an old berlin skimmer it runs 24/7 and it helps alot with disease management and clarity of water and overall redox of aquariums which should be around 300-400mv
