the best advice i can give you at the moment is to READ READ and READ about ozone before you connect it. it sounds like you might be flying blind with regards to Ozone and its uses and why we use it for what and you realy need to research its use before connecting it up. It has good advantages, but it needs careful consideration. Google is you friend!

i have a ozone unit running on my system
i introduced it when i was battling with WS
i originally had it connected to my skimmer , through the air intake , but have moved it to a ozone reactor
on my system , it was set to 50mg / h and , but i am in the process of linking it to my profilux , with a ORP probe.

most people run it through there skimmer , or through a smaller skimmer , with carbon on top .
word is that the effects are limited due to the reaction time/ contact time , it has with the water and also long term effects on the skimmer is unknown

because air is pushing into the skimmer , and not sucked in , it also effect skimmer performance , and this is the reason most people run a smaller skimmer to run ozone

carbon is put in the skimmer cup - it is used to ensure that none of the harmful / reactive gas escapes
as o3 is very unstable and reactive and the carbon neutralizes it .

    i am running 50 mg / hr on my tank which is 2.5m x 1m x 0,75 m , so around 2200 liters total
been doing this for around 2 months and no probs so far

if you keep it within a safe amount , you wont have a problem.
if you over dose , you can wipe a tank
they suggest you connect it to a ORP meter to ensure you dont over do it, but that is if you are dosing to the max , to ensure the ORP is exactly where it is suppsed to be
if you set the amount below the recommended amount , i dont see how you can overdose

mine has been running constant at 50 mg/h (touch wood) nothing gone wrong.

Clarity of water at this rate? Must be crystal clean!!!

I have read that 20mg/hr for two hours just after lights on is enough to allow for crystal clear water, but not allow for the redox potential to ever increase too much be be harmful. It also allows for your system to not become "addicted" to ozone. If ozone dosing forms a substantial part of Nitrite and NH4 conversion to NO3, if the ozone generator is switched off for some reason for long periods of time, a tank may not be able to convert NH4 and NO2 on its own, and the tank can crash...

The guy also gives a link to Randy Holmes-Farley's view on ozone use...

I'm super keen to give ozone a try...

to be honest , i have nothing to compare it to , i took the initial setups to use it , when i read about it , and after having the WS issue
my water does seem to be pretty clear, but without comparison i cannot comment .

the only probblem i had was that my cheato seemed to have died off , but i am not sure if that was my ozone , or my tank going through the various cycling steps.
