    Hi peeps,
I am looking for a ozone reactor, does anyone have one lying around that I could buy or point me in the right direction to get one. Not so keen on running ozone through the skimmer as it will affect my water/bubble level.
    Thanks
    Carlos

Ah, not seen one of those in SA at all.
But here is a link on a DIY build.

You will need to inject the Ozone into the reactor at about 4Psi to get it working.

Here is also some interesting reading.

Was thinking of buying one of these myself.....

I think they are very rare in SA, @Nemos Janitor night have imported them a few years back.

I really like the artilcle, particularly the piece about how the affect on bacteria is minimial [ …the dosing of 0.52 ppm of ozone was tested for its ability to decrease the system’s bacterial load. That dose is similar to a 300 mg/hr ozone unit applied to a typical small skimmer flow rate of 150 gallons per hour (568 L/h). In this experiment, the levels of suspended bacteria (both Vibrio and coliform) were analyzed in a variety of locations (intake, pre-ozone, post-ozone, pre-tank, and post-tank). In no case was there a statistically significant reduction in bacteria. Even the addition of a venturi injector to the contact chamber did not adequately help (although it trended toward fewer bacteria, the result was not statistically significant).].

4psi, how would one get that? The first DIY mod looked pretty impressive and it seems he only used a normal air pump, but I also read another article that these DIY jobs need to be at least 1.2 (4feet) high, definitely an eye sore.

The last reactor, looks really cool, but see a pressure gauge attached, again high psi?

Oh well, let see what anyone else has to say.

    How?

your skimmer pulls in a 1000L air or more, ok depending on price. You blow the ozone in with a little air pump. No why that it will make that impact.

@RiaanP, tried it on my skimmer the last few days and it messed with the levels, I also thought it wouldn't but it did, I don't run the ozone 24/7 so I can't adjust the skimmer at the new water level (have a skimz 201kone). What I did today was add a old skimmer (reef octo srp 1000) and it doesn't affect the water level as much, I think the skimz is just a bit fussy, but hae having two skimmers in my system, a bit of overkill :p

Using a tiny little pump that came with the Ozone machine, Haliea HLO 800 and it doesn't say how many litres/hour it pumps.

    try the LFS .
most of them dont know about it , i assume cause it is not a product that is requested very often.
i only found out about it when doing the research .
any LFS that stock reef octopus should be able to get it as it comes from the same supplier

From what I remember they are not too cheap
Also they rely on gravity so you pump water to the top and it falls to the bottom and back into sump/system
    Have a look on YouTube
There is a basic video showing one running but has no commentary

Yip, hence the 4 or 5 PSi needed by the pumps to force the water in from the top and out the bottom via a carbon filter system.

Here is the reef octo one

A standard haelea pump will be okay
Water doesn't run through carbon, carbon is used to diffuse the excess ozone as it is very corrosive ,
All that happens is water falls from top of chamber and out the bottom.

Carlos, what are you aiming to achieve with the ozonizer?
