two days ago I used some reef putty in my tank, and since then my skimmer has been madly overflowing. I know the puty might have changed water chemistry but how long can this carry on for ?

Then id say its something else causing it. What else did you do/add to the tank?

Adding the LR has displaced water. Your water level whill be higher so the skimmer will need to be adjusted or turned down slightly.

Nope , water level is the same. Even raised the skimmer . Even if I lift the skimmer up 15cm it keeps overflowing.

You need to lift the skimmer up quite a bit. It is way to deep.

I had that skimmer in my previous tank, you have it to low in the water, I build a small stand with egg creat to lift it higher.

Is it set to max now? Water level is spot on. Something changed in your water.......not to worry it will come wright. Try running some Carbon in a filter bag in your sock holder see its close to the inlet of the skimmer.
