    hi guys
    hope everyone is keeping well.

i hope you can shed some light on this one for me.

i have a corner overflow and it sound like a damn toilet!!!
    moer loud.
basically , i have a pipe that runs straight to the sump from the overflow box.

the pipe in the overflow box has a 90 bend attached to it , yet still making a noise... ? :(

please help before i get murdered in my sleep by the household :tt2:

it looks pretty much like the pic attached yet there is no "cap" on the top, just an open hole??

    thanks a million

Think you need the cap but you must drill like a 3 ml hole in it

Yup you got to cap it and drill the hole. When I did mine I was told to put a shut off valve just before it enters the sump and that would allow you to regulate the amount of flow.

How big does the hole need to be?
Do you need the shutoff valve at the bottom in the sump?

Three or four mill sounds about right and mine is about 100mm above the water but I don't think it's to important as long as it is easily accessible

drill a 6mm hole in the top cap. Push a airline hose in as in previous picture. Add a airline valve, those plastic green stupid valves to control the airflow entering the downpipe. With adjustments you should be able to find the spot the tank is most silent.

another source of noise is any 90 degree elbows on the downpipe. Rather replace with 45 degree bends.
