The biggest pain about this hobby it seems is the fact that your tank will never be big enough. So, one year into it, my current tank is full and I have no choice but to upgrade.

The new tank I envisage should be about 500 litre for the DT. The dimensions I am pondering are 1500mm x 650 x 600 (550 water level).

Now my question on this, and many to follow, what type of overflow would you guy’s recommend for this tank size. I have my own ideas but would like to have your inputs here as well.

    Hi

Personally I would go for a coast to coast overflow. That way you get a huge amount of sufrace skimming.

As for the flow ... Well you adjust it till the tank is quite
You can mix up the water with your power-heads and flow pumps

    Enjoy :yeahdude:

It's each to their own with this one really, I prefer having an overflow box on the outside of the tank. Had a coast to coast once and did not like it for a few reasons.
Also I prefer to have less visible equipment, for a lack of better words, in the tank.

after having a lot of different setups, The simplest options still for me is the old strandard box corner overflow with Durso fitted.

Else my current display tank with its external overflow box with Durso fitted, based on the Bean Animal design. With internal skinny overflow

Agreed with @Smithers, my next build will be an external overflow box. No real estate gets used.
