    what other methods can be used to rise orp other than ozone in a reef aquarium?

    Hi Jinx,

    How are you measuring your ORP. Before plaing around with chemicals I would suggest getting a decent ORP meter if you dont have one. Besides Ozone , good skimming, good gas exchange through good water movement and maybe addition of air stone will help. As for chemicals hydrogen persoxide or potassium permanganate ( condys crystals), I think Kent also has a product.

    If you are battling to keep ORP values up, look at your stocking density , skimmer etc first before adding chemicals as this will be a quick fix and shouldnt be used as part of a maintenance schedule IMHO

    I do have a saga controller the check the orp,it is sitting on 190mv not good at all.......thanks for the advice guys I'll look into it.Or maby I'll use some ozone.

    one of the best ways to increase dissolved 02 is through photosythesis, so perhaps a decent sized scrubber would help as well? just a thought

    how big is your scrubber and whats the water volume of your tank?

    Its about 45cm x 60cm 222L water.

    Thats the thing I dont have a very big load,all my other water parameters are fine.Its just the orp that is giving some problems.

    sure the orp controller is calibrated corectly?

    Yeah I calibrated in 200mv calibration fluid

    sorry im having a blonde moment here, so when you put it in the 200mv fluid does the ORP read 200mv?

    how old is the orp meter? some of them need to run a couple of weeks before u get an accurate reading. mine took a month before it showed the correct reading

    spoke to another reefer and he also says the prob offer a good few weeks befor they show accurate readings

    O.k I'll give it a week or two and see how it goes.I ozoned today and got the orp up to 260mv and then I stopped the unit.I want to take it step by step.This reading didnt last long at all,its back where it was before.
