    Hello everyone

Just want to share with you my expencive mistake, i saw a orange spotted goby at my local fish supplier and booked one when thier new shipment came in, this took about a month any yesterday i was a proud owner of one, that is until this morning when i found it on the floor next to my tank.

There are 2 very good lessons to learn here:

1: make sure you know all about the fish you are wanting to keep( i googled this morning only to find out that these goby do jump)

2: The shops where you purchase the fish also need to tell the buyer all they can about the fish, ask questions.

i as a biginner will be doing this in future [IMG]

There is an easy way to buy a new fish or get an ID in the LFS if the name is on the tank google it on your phone in MASA many a pretty fish has stayed at the LFS, after they told me how great it was yet on MASA the fish is not good in a tank, use your smart phone in the LFS my thoughts

good advice above, i do the same thing, spend lots of time in the lfs standing with the wifes balckberry. i have always wanted purple firefish, and for this same reason, i can not keep em.

    Sorry about your loss dude.

Sorry for the loss, unfortunately those gobies are some of the absolute worst jumpers. It's always a good idea to have a tank cover. There are many popular fish that are regular jumpers and you're gonna be finding a lot of fish biltong in future without one.

You should also pick your LFS wisely. The better ones have knowledgeable staff that would very likely have mentioned the jumping.

In all the professionals opinion which are the best Marine shop to be buying your stock from? Petmasters does not seem to have the most reputable name out there, and was just asking for some guidance.

Just a question. Does your tank have euro bracing right around?
