    Hi Everybody
I set up breeding tank for the little red Hawaiian shrimp, biological name "opae ola". In America they are bred in mass amounts and also used for feeding. I unfortunately only have one left after a water related problem in there breeding tank. Anybody on the group possibly breed or sell any of these shrimp [IMG]

    Welcome to MASA

Sorry man, the biological or better scientific name in latin is

    Halocaridina rubra

As far as I know are all Caridina banned in SA. I heard that will changed soon.

    Anybody with facts about this?

Thanks for the reply - looks like I won't be breeding them in South Africa yet they are available as small self sustained units in the states - at a pretty costly price. Pity I lost so many of mine.

I don't know if this will help, but these shrimp grow around heated volcano water and are readily available via website here in Hawaii. If they are banned or not in SA I would not know. They sell them every where here.
