    Right so, hello all.

I find myself starting my setup for a second time.

This time I will not start with a second hand tank and second hand equipment as this seems to be a good way to purchase other peoples problematic stuff.

I have decided to have a tank built by Idol Marine and Build and Galvanise a steel stand myself. following which I will install my new reactors and skimmer(Reef Octo otp-2000) with my new vortex flow pumps.

I will take the time to get this all done. And only then will I get the Tank surrounded by a cabinet maker.

This is the plan for my 1000 x 600 x 500High rimless tank with skinny overflow and black laminate backround.

I will use only my live rock and coral from my old tank which crashed whilst I was on holiday a year ago. I managed to save it from extinction but just only and it has recovered slowly over the last year.

But cutting corners from a price perspective has left me with a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to this old tank.

Will do this next one RIGHT!!

Look forward to all my interactions with all of you going forward.

    Hi Guys,

    Just an update.

Got my tank and sump on saturday.

I built the Stand myself and finished it on Saturday, with Levelling bolts on the bottom after getting this advise from luis at Idol Marine.

I had the Sump(850x490x450h) built by Exotic in Boksburg "thanks to Steven there for the excellent pricing"
The Sump is a 4 compartment. 1st is the overflow and ts2 skimmer 2nd is a DSB and Macro algae 3rd is the return. then there is a 4th for RO water reservoir running the full length of the back of the sump

The DT was built by Idol Marine ( Thanks Guys it looks great) 1000x600x500h with skinny overflow and returns built in. I will not be running any flow pumps in the display and have therefore got directional 45 degree return jets mounted into the c2c overflow pane. these will be run seperately on a Haleia 6540 and 6530 respectively to vary the flow between the 2 sides of the tank.

I have also managed to get a TLF Phosban 150 reactor running off of a Haliea 650lt per hour pump which I will be running Carbon in.

RO top up is automated by the use of a 220v float switch and a 200lt per hour haliea pump run in series.

    Lighting is a Odyssea 4x39w T5 Pendant with 2 x 10000k and 2x actinic

I managed to get all the plumbing done yesterday and it all looks quite good. the overflow is 50mm with a ball valve and the returns are 32mm with ball valves tapering down to 20mm at the return jets.

I will be sure to take photos this evening and upload then tomorrow.

Cant wait to get this tank wet but have some serious electrical work to do tonight. got to get it looking perfect as possible before the water goes in.:slayer:

as you can see above the tank is all systems go with Bath Water!!

Got a new RO unit yesterday and will be draining and cleaning the tank today whilst my RO unit feverishly tries to fill this bad boy..........Im sooooooooooooooooooooo exited to get it up and running and move my inmates in......

You can see the flow I am getting by the surface agitation and the head on the sump divider..... this is with just one return pump connected so far.....
Still going to connect a second pump...although this one is a bit smaller

Ive got about 60Kg of live rock with several coral frags on it.

    A Fox coral
    button polyps
    green stripe mushies
    purple hairy mushies
    pink bubble mushies
    GSP
    Jewel Star Polyps
    Branching Sun Coral
    Pin Cushion
    purple mushies

    a small Green bubble tip

    Lawnmower blenny
    kole tang
    coral beauty
    3chromis
    2 yellow tail damsels
    5ish hermits
    15ish snails
    4 peppermint shrimp

then i have a volitans Lion and a Vagabond Butterfly that I need to sell on as they do not fit into the new plan.

Planning on keeping a mixed reef, mainly softies with some choice LPS........and possibly at a later stage a few gorgonians directly infront of the return flow.

The returns are my only flow so I have amped them up to around 5000lt per hourtaking the head into account.
This is about 13 times the total water volume of the system
