Tubes will make a difference yes. The higher end tubes pushes out way more lumens, PAR than the cheap ones that come with the unit.

ati and geisemens make a huge diference in oddysea units....ask @Perky pets superstore they tried it and voila, twice the amount of light = brighter colours in fish and corals and better growth... overall excellence, ive seen for myself

yes weve changed out about 18 bulbs from std to giesaman - they make a difference ...

Yes the ballasts arnt the ones in the ATI units , but you get what you pay for - so if you want good lighting for a reasonable price - go oddysy and giesaman - but take care ofthe units so they last . our units have fallen into the tanks a few times and not been cleaned off propperly. Now finish is not looking good and the reflectors are blotchy ..

so take care of the units and you cant go wrong for the price range...
they will grow goral well and make the fish look stunning..

I only recently got the ATI range in - yes ATI are cheaper - but its personal preference which are better - i do love the ATI that's above our 3 m coral tank...

Very bright , i cant take nice pics , the camera doesn't focus nicely in the high Purple Blue spectrum for some reason...

Best way to describe is, wen u run tank on only actinic... U see all the lumo colours pop, now imagine those popped lumo colours all thru the day even with ur whites on ... I used aquablue + and the blue+ .... I wish I had a quad unit coz then I would get the whole range....

What does the ATI bulbs cost? I also have the Odysea double light unit(120-140cm) on my 1.2m and the blue bulb seems to be going.......

I can't say if its better, but from what I personally saw, and lots of opinions I heard. ATi is better and its cheaper aswell...ranges R200-R300 between sizes...

    Hi Kingfish

Contact The Water Boy (Marco) and check if he has the ATi range.
