Why exactly do you want a nutrient rich system?

system that is overfed, mostly where you got sun corals or NPS coral (non-photosynthetic corals). Where you on purpose overfeed especially with frozen foods. But with the negative issue of algae growing easily. Or on softy systems, where you want your pin cushions etc that prefer dirtier water to grow happily.

I still don't think that you need a nutrient rich system.
If you have a good filtration system (low Nutrients) and plan your feeding well, with experimenting with quantities, etc. you can easily run a nutrient low system that has happy corals being fed in order for them to thrive.
It takes a bit of time initially to get your feeding amounts and schedule correct but once you have it sorted it can work really well

I started using Seachem Matrix about month or 2 ago. Tested first on my son's TL550. Had cyano on the substrate, 2 weeks later, all gone.

Not saying that it is the best or only option. But I'm happy with the results.

it is white round pebbles. Not sure if you do have the same product.

Can be used in a canister filter, or any flow through chamber. I do not think its good to have them lie in the bottom of a sump within detritus. My logic says that it will them become blocked up.

Matrix is just a filter media like bioballs, would never cause cyano, or I fail to see how it could
