I got a reef octopus reactor. The pellets keep on clogging the top mesh. I have to clean it every day. This is bad because the bacteria dies and the have to start again. Now i open the inlet pipe a little so that some pressure can be released there but now the water is splashing everywere. What can i do to fix this problem?:( The reactor is running for about two months now.

Can you change the pressure before the inlet to the Reactor?

put a flow controller in the pipe going into the reactor.

I got myself the bubble-magus reactor just for that reason. It allows even to control the flow going out!!!

Which Reactor do you have? The 500L/H or the 1000L/H and how much is in your Reactor compared to the size of your tank? It's supposed to be around 100ml for every 100L.

The pellets will get stuck to the top mesh inittially, give it about 20 min then just hit it on a little bit to get the air bubbles of the pellets, thats what i had to do every time i ad pellets

Yep - the guys recommend soaking the pellets overnight to get any air bubbles out and give it a good stir before addition.

I agree here with Fanie, I had the same problem even after soaking the pellets over night it clumped at the top.
It was too much flow going in, added a control valve and it's perfect now.

I had the same problem. Soaked them for 2 days, then added 1000lph pump and added a flow controller onto the pump.. :)
