Get yourself an led unit for lighting. Try getting a bigger skimmer. 2xtank volume. Are you getting a sump for the tank?

If you getting a sump, then i dont see the need for a canister filter.

Skimmer will depend on budget. Have a look at a Reeftek TS1, should work on that size tank

Thanks i will do that , but what are you saying that i do not need an additional filter other than a Skimmer.
Being a novice and practically new , i really need this type of info as pet shops will sell you practically enything to make money.

    :(

Sump will house filter material that would have been in the canister.

Sump/filtration will depend on your livestock. What do you intend on keeping?

As 459b mentioned. You do not need one as you have a sump.
    You just saved R1535.00

Read the newbie forum a lor of info there, sump has 3 compartments usually. First compartment will have inlet from display tank amd house skimmer. I will recommend reeftek ts2 or bubble magnus curve 5. Second compartment will have dsb or live rock or refugium your pick. Or filter media like carbon phosphate remover or bio cubes. Compartment 3 is return pump back to display. Hope this will help. No need for canister
