my carpet nennie is not happy, took me a week to find out what is wrong, my big clown(clark) desided he is tired of the tank, and jumped out, so i only have a smaller clown hosting the nennie, but my sailfin tang has been pecking the nennie. what do you sugest i do, iv covered the nenie slightly so that the tang cant get close to him any more ith a piece of live rock

Do you have sufficient lighting in the sump? Can you protect the anemone from pumps in the sump?

Burt - this is really funny that a tang would attack an anemone..... I have never heard of this, because the tangs don't eat anemone meat. Was the tang not perhaps trying to get to some food that the anemone had in it's tentacles?

Hi, Carpets are much more aggressive than other types so mayby test your water again, if the clarki jumped out, mayby its ? High nitrate whitch is also affecting the nennie and the sailfin is pecking at his dying tenticles or food as Jacquesb sugested because the nennie isnt feeling well and not taking the food in ?

Ive lost a yellow tang on introducing it into a tank due to a carpet anamone, mayby yours isnt feeling well ?

It is strange that a tang would attack an anemone. However it is not impossible. There may be some aggression issues going on with the tang. Too many fish, too small of tank, and water parameters are some possibilities. The tang trying to get food from the anemone is more likely so keep everyone well fed.

hmmm burt, to be honest if i were to up the feeding and try to specifically target a tang then I would feed with more nori on a veggie clip rather than more meat related foods. Does your sailfin eat nori?

if you add too much meaty foods you may find your water parameters go south ( and as its been pointed out already, you dont want additional nitrates with that nennie as it is). Nori would be a better food i feel.
