So i have always despised the traditional nori clips, either they dont hold the nori or dont hold onto the glass or usually both ....

in the past i have used an elastic band on a rock suspended by fish gut, but a floating rock looks shit

So i am looking for some out of the box suggestions as to how you feed nori sheets !!!

or they break. Well the stupid ones with single big plastic that should keep it together.

Else they drop to the sand. Not nice on deep tanks.

Or one of the Tangs rip it off and the nori just floats around, either going over the overflow, or somewhere where it completely covers something.

What helps, I took a piece of plastic netting, almost same as some tanks have in front of their overflows. about 100mm by 40mm with about 8mm gaps and I put Nori in that, fold it double, and clip that to the Nori Clip. Keeps nori in there longer. See that some new clips that yu can buy got same type of concept. Helps, unless clip falls if and end on the sand - again.

ok let me elaborate a bit more .....

I have designed my new tank to *TRY* to eliminate non natural things in the tank .... i.e. no pumps etc etc etc ..... a nori clip looks ugly and doesnt seem to work, is there another solution?

Neil , I have always used the Omega One clips, much stronger construction and holds the nori . Also lasts forever

I have seen some pellets at the LFS that actually stick on the glass without the need for a clip.

I have the ocean nutrition clips and they are sturdy. The suckers usually give up so i drilled a hole through the sucker part and put a cabletie to attach it to a piece of perspex that can hang on the edge of the tank. It has been working pretty well.

I use elastic band on LR, it would be nice for something though that we don't have to put our hands in.

This is realy a cool magnet, been using it for a few months now. Price R250 and worth it. The rubber like material on both magnets is strong enough to hold itself in place, without the aid of megnatism, to a curved surface.

Which they would have used the ocean nutrition design. That clip design never works for me.

    Nice idea, shit clip.
the white C shaped part always breaks, then it is useless. Just always be carefull, never open it up to wide. And do not let your kids get hold of it.

I got those Ocean Nutrition clips, their weak point is the suckers. They fall off, unless you want to take it off. Wish these two were combined into one.

I like Durleo's solution. Just a bit difficult to hang that if you got euro bracing. But will work out a plan.

But Neil, it does not look like you got an invisible or natural option yet. Still stuck with the right in the middle of the view veggie clip staring you in the face... irritating you...

A more natural option would be to start culturing the algae and sea weed yourself. Then just throw some of the live algae into your tank every day.

IF you got euro bracing then just square the top of the perspex bracket the same size as the bracing. I used a soldering iron to heat the perspex and bend it:thumbup:

What about making it a part of the overflow, and having a ppurpose built slot to wedge in the nori ... any thoughts on that ?
